Vanderbilt University established the Data Science Institute to accelerate data-driven research, promote collaboration, and train future leaders. The institute brings together experts in data science methods with leaders in all academic fields to spark new discoveries in research as well as to study the impact of big data on society.
Academics
The Data Science Institute offers a Data Science M.S. Degree which provides instruction in data science skills critical to many quantitative, computational, and scientific disciplines.
In addition to our M.S. Degree program, the Institute also sponsors a trans-institutional Undergraduate Data Science Minor, available to all Vanderbilt undergraduate students.
Research
The Data Science Institute empowers researchers and students to integrate data science tools and techniques into research across all disciplines. The Institute initiates, conducts, and facilitates research in many ways, including through our Summer Research Program, through our Data Science for Social Good program, and in collaboration with with government, industry, and non-profit entities who are active in the data science space.
Events
AI Deep Dives
AI Deep Dives are a great time to deeply explore research problems which might be solvable with deep learning. Here, researchers from all fields of study can discuss their ideas with DSI data scientists, other researchers, DS graduate students, and undergraduate students. Together, we brainstorm and formulate solutions, lay out project plans, recruit students and engage potential collaborators for the goal of initiating new projects, new AI project phases, or new AI project directions.
Workshops
The DSI offers a series of workshops to get students, faculty, and community members familiar with data science tools. Workshops are open to the entire Vanderbilt community.
